Having read mixed reviews on this restaurant on TA we thought we would give it a try during our recent vacation nearby. We made a reservation in advance for 8pm as we had read that booking was advisable but not at all. There were 3 guests in the restaurant when we arrived & the owners never even asked for our reservation name so that says alot! Soon afterwards a family of 5 and their children arrived and that was it till we left at 10.45pm. Staff were OK nothing outstanding here just doing their job & alot of them for the few guests that were dining here. As is the usual practice the 2 bread rolls were presented to us as if they were a welcome treat but alas we have long copped onto this racket as you are charged quite a bit for this but we had them anyway. We had 2 starters which were far too much & needless to say we were not advised that the portions were big & 1 would have been enough to share. Some restaurants advise this but sure why would they tell us that as it was their business to make as much money as possible out of us. Both starters of black pudding & tomatoes with cheese & figs were delicious especially the black pudding. For mains we had lamb chops grilled & fillet steak with fried onion smoked cheese & port wine sauce. No choice of potatoes just frozen chips out of a bag which did not really compliment the meat and as for the few vegetable that were served with it you would miss them if you blinked your eyes! We had read that the Mexican coffees here were an experience but it was never mentioned that they were an experience with a price of €7.25 each. That was our mistake as we didn’t ask to see the menu we just ordered these and the act was performed at our table but with no smile or any fun which was a let-down.

Well worth a trip to Mogan the restaurant is great value three courses for 11.95 euros . Big portions well cooked. I had fish and shellfish soup, my wife Octopus. There is a great choice of meat and fish. I had a grilled Dorado mg wife fish in a lemon and caper sauce. We finished a truly memorable meal with home made fig ice-cream and canarian cake. Great service, make it a must

Then for the best part of the night was the bill. There was a charge of €2.50 for “varios”??? and we questioned the guy and he could not explain what this was and just took it off the bill with a sour face. Obviously took a chance to get another few euro out of us as it probably wasn’t worth their while opening the restaurant for the amount of diners they had that night. To us this was a real turn off and it is a restaurant in the middle of nowhere & quite dead around there as we had a drink in the village just 5 mins walk away & it was a ghost village there. You don’t need a car to get here as has been mentioned, you can get the bus from Puerto de Mogan for €1.40 and it stops outside the restaurant and same on the way back. For us we would not return as it is nothing spectacular & trying to take advantage of tourists is not nice so be aware of this when you get your bill and on top of that there was a tax charge of 7% so that sorted out the tip!
